Cheers to February 22, National Margarita Day, Tequila and BATS! Yes! It is our favorite holiday! #NationalMargaritaDay. Do you love Margaritas as much as we do? Thank a bat. Bats are essential for naturally pollinating agave, which tequila is made from. Yes BATS!!!
I checked in with Bats 4 Tequila, a nonprofit for saving bats and tequila and they are celebrating today with bat-friendly tequila in their margaritas. We need to keep the natural pollinators in business! Tequila depends on it.
People have been drinking this classic cool tequila cocktail since the 1930’s and most likely much longer than that! Entering mainstream in the 1950’s, the margarita has grown to be an American Nightlife favorite.
In the December 1953 issue of Esquire magazine, the margarita cocktail was the “Drink of the Month”. Want the recipe? Here it is!
- 1-ounce tequila
- Dash of Triple Sec
- Juice of 1/2 lime or lemon
Pour over crushed ice, stir. Rub the rim of a stem glass with rind of lemon or lime, spin in salt—pour, and sip. (Wikipedia)
Number Juan Tequila with Queen of Nightlife, Anneliese Place and comedians Ron White and Alex Reymundo. An American Nightlife Award winner.
